Toubkal Winter Climb – Toubkal Trekking

  • by

Climbing Toubkal in the winter months generally requires wearing crampons and also with a sports ice axe. However the ascent (by both the north or south Cwm routes) is not complex therefore you don’t always have previous experience working with an axe or maybe crampons because you are going to be under the careful eye of one our guides. (We wouldn’t suggest a Toubkal winter climb without a winter seasoned guide in case you don’t have prior winter walking / climbing experience).

In terms of health, you need to be applied to and fit enough to deal with 6 8 hour days in the mountains for the length of your journey keeping in mind that the weather conditions whilst generally favourable could make life a lot harder at 4000m’s in case it changes nasty..

Itinerary
Day one: Arrive to Marrakech menara airport then transfer to the riad.

Day two: After a leisurely morning within the Medina, transfer to Imlil because of the evening in Dar Adrar Guesthouse, afternoon stroll around the village is possible

Day three: begin the trek of ours, proceeding along the Mizane Valley, initially towards the village of Aremd and then onto the shrine of Sidi Chamarouch. Constructed on the moraine spur overlooking the valley floor, Aremd is the biggest village in the valley and offers a fascinating blend of classic terraced farming, gites plus roadways which appear to be completely gridlocked by cows and goats. For generations the area Berber villagers have been effective these lands, producing walnuts, potatoes, and corn from the strong landscape. Continuing east and also crossing the flood plain our path takes us along mule path and up into the higher rocky cliffs above the valley. Crossing the river we ultimately arrive at the pastoral shrine of Sidi Chamarouch, that draws in pilgrims and visitors equally (although just Muslims can cross the stone bridge to visit themarabout shrine itself). The village rests besides a tiny waterfall, a jumbled bunch of houses which appear to melt together into an anarchic mass. From here the trail continues to climb steadily, zigzagging and snaking the way of its up with the snowline and also the Toukbal Refuge (3206m), the stop of ours of the evening. Approx 4 5hrs walking.

Day four: We head out early on to get Jebel Ouanakrim, beginning with a light hike up to the valley head on the Tizi Ougane mountain pass then throughout the ridge to the summit at 4088m. From the upper part, the ideas of Toubkal as well as the surrounding mountains are stunning. In the late morning/early afternoon we begin the descent of ours to the refuge for a well deserved popular beverage along with a relaxing afternoon. six hours walking.

Day five: Today we’ve an additional first start, this moment with the ascent of Toubkal. The stroll begins right away climbing steeply through ice and scree before traversing the southern ridge to arrive at the summit. It’s right here we’re rewarded with the most effective views as well as the best feeling of accomplishment. We descend by exactly the same path and must be to the refuge in some time for a late lunch. six hours walking.

Day six: Today we head down the valley to Imlil via the peligrimage place Sidi chamharoush, Lunch in imlil then transfer to Marrakech.

Day seven: Departure to the airport based of the flight time of yours.

N.B: The trek may be extended and be completed in eight Day seven night Trip
