Aluminium gutters are more durable than cast iron because they don’t rust or corrode. Marine grade aluminium has been specially developed to resist corrosion due to salt spray from roads or in marine environments. This makes gutters last for many years and requires very little maintenance.
Here are some of these benefits of using cast aluminum gutters and rainwater goods
Cast aluminium is much lighter than cast Iron, which makes it easy and quicker to put in.
Our gutters are cheaper than their cast iron counterparts.
When used in a domestic setting, our cast aluminum gutter systems can last for at most 25 years.
We have a large selection of gutter systems to fit all styles, including Victorian, Edwardian and Georgian.
We offer a wide selection of traditional heritage colours as well as powder coated polyester colours.
Cast aluminium is an eco-friendly option as it can easily be recycled many times. Additionally, all of our products are made with recycled aluminium.
Cast aluminium guttering blends traditional style and elegance with strength and durability.
It is nearly impossible to tell the differences between powder coated aluminium or cast iron guttering. Cast aluminium is perfect for use on period homes.
Use aluminium gutters for the following reasons:
1. Lightweight
Aluminium is a lightweight metal, with an approximate weight 2.7g/cm3, which is roughly one-third of the density of cast iron or steel. Because of the difference in weight, installing an aluminum gutter system is much easier and safer than installing a cast iron one. A square downpipe made of cast iron can weigh over 30 kg, while one made from aluminium can weigh less than 5kg.
2. Impact Resistance
Aluminium, despite its small weight, is strong. Aluminium downpipes can be dented by impact. However, the force of the impact is absorben by the deformation. Cast iron or plastic downpipes will crack under impact and would need immediate replacement. It is possible for the aluminum downpipe to become damaged but not irreparable.
3. Corrosion Resistance
Aluminium is extremely resistant to corrosion and naturally forms a protective oxide layer. The aluminum’s resistance to corrosion is further improved by powder coating. This gives the product a 30-year lifespan with minimal maintenance.
4. UV Radiation Resistance
Aluminium is resistant to UV radiation from the sunlight. Plastic gutters or downpipes can become fragile over time from sun exposure, and may even fade in colour.
5. Temperature and fire resistance
Aluminiumm’s properties remain the same at temperatures between -80 and +150degC. Extreme cold increases the aluminium’s hardness, making it harder. Aluminium does not ignite and is classified as a non-combustible building material. Aluminium can melt between 600 and 650°C without releasing any harmful gases. Plastic becomes brittle when stored in freezing temperatures. Plastic melts quickly when exposed to heat. This allows the fire to spread and releases toxic gases into the air.
6. Minimal Maintenance
The maintenance of a powder-coated aluminium rainwater system is very simple. For a lifetime of decades, make sure to keep your gutters clean and free from debris. Cast iron must be repainted every 5-7 year to keep rust from forming. This is both a time-consuming and costly task.
7. Recyclable
Aluminium is recyclable 100% with no loss of its quality. Aluminium rainwater systems are greener because they only require about 5 percent of what it takes to re-melt the metal.
