What to know when shopping for wedding shoes

  • by

We get a lot questions about wedding shoes during our alteration fittings and bridal appointments. Here are some of the most common questions we receive. This page will be updated as often as possible with links to the latest season’s shoes. We hope you enjoy this guide to wedding shoes!
Are you looking for closed-toe or open-toe wedding shoes?

For cooler climates, a closed-toe shoe is best. However, open-toe shoes work well for weddings that are longer. Closed-toe shoes for black-tie weddings are acceptable, but not essential. Closed-toe and open toe shoes should be considered. The decision should be based on comfort and style. Take a look at the shoes you already own. Are you more likely to own closed-toe or open-toe shoes?

Which heel would you recommend for everyday wear?

My personal experience with shoes is that it is more about how the shoe is made rather than the heel height. My heels are my favorite part of the shoe. I am 5’6″ tall and wish I was longer! A flat shoe for brides is the best choice. Flats will offer you the best comfort. Flats were out of my consideration when I was looking for wedding shoes. I prefer heels because I can stand better in heels. I feel more dressed up for special occasions and look better. Flats are best for those who can’t stand wearing heels for long periods of time. The dress will be too long at the reception if you start with a tall shoe for the wedding and then drop down to a shorter wedding heel. The dress cannot be hemmed for both the heel heights.

Are flats allowed to be worn to the wedding ceremony?

You can wear whatever you like! Shoes are not a set of rules. It is up to you how you hem your gown. The traditional way that seamstresses hem the gown is to raise it above the floor. While you won’t be able to see your wedding shoes from the altar, you can see the toes of the shoe if you step forward. The toe of your shoe is more important than the heel. Flats are preferred by some brides because they offer comfort and/or the fiance is taller than others. The past was a time when wedding flats weren’t the most attractive, so brides were reluctant to wear them. Many of my brides have chosen a comfortable, fun flat over the years.

We asked our Instagram followers if they preferred flats or heels on their wedding day. From the 180 votes, 16% chose flats while 84% preferred heels.

Bridal Fashion Tip – Think of your wedding shoes as an accessory!

Your bridal look is automatically equated with your wedding dress. Next, what? You can finish the look with a veil, a crown or a bracelet, and earrings. It’s not easy to find shoes for your wedding. Make sure you have your shoes! They will be with you for the whole time, even if you don’t change them after the ceremony. Make wise choices. Are they something you love? Are they comfortable? Are they comfortable? No matter if you choose a block heel or stiletto, your pearl wedding shoes should be an accessory that you are proud of!

Do wedding shoes need to have lace or beading?

Ah yes, this is one of my favourite questions. Here’s where style advice comes in. This is where you’ll likely hear mixed feedback from stylists at The Bridal Finery. There are many opinions, so it is good to get feedback from the team. The shoes should match the hem. A statement shoe with sparkly hems is a good choice. Consider a pump, open-toe, or soft lace if the dress is made of satin or crepe. A lace shoe is an option if the dress is made of lace. You can find a suitable fabric for the dress but it is not possible to match the shoe. If that happens, you should consider a clean shoe. If you’re outside for the ceremony or reception, then you should consider not wearing a clean shoe. They may become super dirty so they might be worn once only.

What color shoes should I wear for my wedding?

Although I may be basic, I do love a good color match shoe. A soft blue is a good choice if you’re doing a color. A dove-blue shoe is a great choice! Something blue is a traditional wedding color and symbolises fidelity. For a modern touch, you can look at the Pantone colors for the year to find inspiration for wedding shoes. The shoes aren’t very visible so this is a great opportunity to add a trendy element to your wedding. A bridal brand is best if you plan on matching your shoes with your wedding dress. Shoes that are primarily designed for weddings will have a wider range of ivory, off-white, and white shades. To make sure the shoe is the right color, check the return policy. We might be able order a sample of your dress depending on the designer so that you can match it at home.
