This article is for couples who want amazing wedding pictures that show how awesome the wedding was. This post should get you started on the right track to find the perfect wedding photographer.
There are a few typical mistakes couples make when they book their wedding photographer. This blog will help to avoid those mistakes and help you get on the right track to hiring a South Wales wedding photographer who is dependable and takes amazing pictures of the most significant wedding day in your lifetime.
This blog post isn’t an attempt to promote my photography. I will certainly utilize my experiences as a basis for discussion, but in no way am I saying that I’m the only photographer to take into consideration. My style may not be suitable for your needs.
For instance, I’m not a photographer who takes fashion-inspired magazine images If that’s what you like, then great, but I’m not the photographer for you.
If you follow these guidelines, you can discover the photographer who is right for you, and will end up with wedding pictures that convey the essence of your wedding day and showcase you looking your best.
How to select the wedding photographer of your choice
Tip 1
Are you impressed? Do they seem like someone you’d have at your wedding an invitee? The person you choose to book to feel like an individual rather than “the assistance”.
This is the most crucial aspect to think about as they will be present for the most important moments of your life. The more relaxed you are with your photographer, the more relaxed and natural the wedding photos will appear.
If you don’t enjoy the person they are as a person, or don’t connect with them, no regardless of how stunning the wedding pictures are, they will be forever linked to the negative experiences you’ve had.
The best thing you can do when you believe you’ve found an artist who shoots in the style you prefer is to go to the “about my” webpage on their site.
This page will give you an understanding of them as a person, and not as a wedding photographer.
If it’s filled with stories of how they’ve been taking pictures of people since they were able to walk and have grown up with cameras in their hands the truth is that they aren’t telling you anything about themselves.
These statements don’t provide any insight into what kind of person they’d like to be around. They can certainly take stunning photos and know their gear as well as the back of their hand, but the main question you’ll be able to answer on this page is “Do I like this person or is he a dick”?
Tip 2
If the prices appear too good to be true, it’s probably because they are. It’s evident, but you’d be amazed at the amount of times that buyers buy based on price alone.
If you see someone offering an PS200 reduction on a product that is already at the lower part of the range, ask what the reason. If they are so uninterested in their own work, will they be apathetic about the quality of work they provide to you.
(There are exceptions to this rule , and you may be lucky, but do you really need to rely on luck to get something that will serve as an everlasting reminder to your day of wedding)?
Tip 3
Beware of photographers who offer an “selection of designs” as well as “tailor the style of their photographer to suit your preferences”
This could mean they aren’t quite nailed down on their personal style yet, and your wedding pictures could look a bit sloppy or even worse.
The old saying “jack of all trades, master of none” is often true in these situations..
Tip 4
Wedding photographers are booked quickly. The majority of photographers will take reservations two years in advance The more popular weekends during the peak season are quickly filled up as well.
It is likely that from the moment you were engaged, you began looking for wedding ideas and suppliers before you even set the date. You began following that particular photographer who seems to be capturing you , and you can clearly see yourself in their photos. You’ve enjoyed their images and have shared their stories.
Once you’ve booked the venue and your wedding date is fixed and not just pencilled on your calendar as a possibility , now is the time to get in touch with the perfect photographer.
For an additional tip, and this applies to every wedding vendor you are interested in. If you are interested in them, immediately, book them. Your intuition is never right.
In the 80’s rom-com “When Harry met Sally “I was aware of the way you’d know about a great melons”.
Tip 5
Photographers are always posting photos, share their work and show off their finest work. The first spot you’ll see their work is on social media. If they appear to be sharing the wedding pictures you want to see visit their website and look at their blog if they have one.
The blog posts usually show the entire day’s wedding ceremony, you may even be lucky and stumble across a photo of a wedding ceremony at the venue you have chosen. If you are looking for a consistent look in your photos The showcase photo is stunning and looks amazing in a frame or as the center pages of your album , but when the other images aren’t great or do not follow the same design, be cautious. A few stunning images aren’t enough to create lifelong memories.
Extra tip: Don’t be concerned that your photographer hasn’t taken photos of your wedding venue previously. Professional photographers always conduct an inspection prior to the wedding day and will check out the most ideal locations for photographs. It’s not often that they shoot in blind. Wedding photographers are extremely flexible (it is a result of many years of experience working at weddings, where things like weather and light can be unpredictable, especially when you’re getting married in Wales)
Tip 6
Review of real brides.
The majority of photographers have reviews on their websites (I do) This is an excellent place to start but keep in mind that they aren’t going to write negative reviews.
Review Google review, FB review if there are reviews on them. Another good thing to look for is to see if the reviews they’ve posted on different platforms are in line with the wedding they’ve written about, so you can witness firsthand the work that was praised by the media. Also, look out for reviews that go beyond than just “She/he gave us great photographs”.
If their reviews are constantly expressing opinions about their capacity to make a part of your day or help you relax , and those are the qualities you’re looking for in stunning photos, you are on to an absolute winner.
Also, ask your friends who are married they’ll be truthful with you, however make sure that the photographer you choose is one who is a good match for what you’re looking for. even if your best friend who is a fan of vogue-style photographs gushes about their photographer doesn’t necessarily mean that they are capable of delivering the more casual fun photos you’re looking for.
Tip 7
Talk to them. In the current era of chaos that we live in, it might not be feasible to meet with your photographer prior to booking the photographer. But, a phone call or a zoom call could help you meet your photographer better and, if you’re lucky, confirm that they’re a real person.
Zoom calls may be somewhat strange to begin with, but many of us have become accustomed to them in the past year. When you talk with them, do they put you at peace and make you smile? are they interested in your wedding and not offer you a big deal on wedding costs before being inquired about the wedding.
One of the most enjoyable meetings I’ve had were ones where we barely talked about weddings, we just talked and enjoyed each other’s company. I had a chance to spend just the beginning 10 minutes a meeting talking about computer games and comics with the groom. At the point that I knew that these guys would be the perfect fit for me. (They also booked me).
The majority of people can tell if they like someone within the first few minutes of interacting with them. So even if their pictures are stunning, if you don’t like them , then they may not be the right fit for you.
This is not an exhaustive list of must-haves and don’ts, but by following these tips you’ll be on the way to answering the question of how to select the right wedding photographer.
Every photographer’s requirements will be different in the way they would like to be photographers, but remember to that you should trust your instincts.
If you are comfortable with them and seem to be able to connect, then you should make an appointment before anyone else does.
